As I am nearing 50, my life has recently gone through a number of changes. I recently left a job as a writer and an editor at a community newspaper after 17 years; my kids are all in elementary school, with the oldest nearly a tween (or maybe he is a tween already, I’m not really sure what the official age is); and as I’m getting closer to the age my mom died from pancreatic cancer, I feel an urgent need to do all those “someday” things that I’ve always wanted to do.
I’ve always looked for signs in everyday life to help guide me in a new direction, but lately it seems like inspiration is coming at me from so many directions. During my years as a newspaper editor and reporter, I met so many inspiring people doing wonderful things and those were always my favorite stories to write. So when I decided to start this blog, that’s the direction I felt pulled to go toward.
At this stage of my life, my focus is my three sons – ages 7, 9 and 11 – my writing (freelance writing, songwriting and now this blog) and the gratitude I have for a supportive husband, family and friends. So those will all undoubtedly factor in these blog posts, too.
So I hope you will join me on this next step of my journey – in whatever direction it may lead – and perhaps you will also find some inspiration along the way.
