The Fall 2017 Blue Guitar arts and literary magazine, a project of The Arizona Consortium for the Arts, is now available online and there on Page 32 are the lyrics to my song “Thumbs-down Mentality.”
Although the Internet offers so many great opportunities for people to connect, its anonymity also allows people to viciously attack others without any repercussion, which is what the song is about. The term “thumbs-down mentality” refers to YouTube videos, which allows viewers to rate the video with either a thumbs-up or a thumbs-down, without giving any thought to the work that went into the making of the video. It’s just kind of an anonymous “you suck” flung out into Cyberspace over and over again, which is kind of sad.
OK, I won’t go on a rant about it now. You can just check out the publication here.
