Grammy Museum

It’s true, there’s a day for kazoo

Today is National Kazoo Day.

Here’s a video we watched from Mashable that featured a visit the Kazoobie Kazoos in Beaufort, South Carolina — the only American manufacture plant of plastic kazoos.

There was a time in high school when some friends and I wanted to start a band. We never actually did it, but  we talked about it a lot. I was going to play percussion, with inspiration from Alannah Currie in The Thompson Twins “Hold Me Now” video, playing a variety of instruments. The kazoo would be one of the instruments I would play.

Our Medley Moment

For now, today’s Medley Moment was watching the videos about kazoos, but we may revisit this one after we get some kazoos.

Tonight is also the Grammy Awards ceremony. When I watched it as a tween, I used to practice my acceptance speech, but I don’t recall if it included anything about playing kazoo. I haven’t watched tonight’s show yet, but I recorded it.

Here I am at the Grammy Museum during a recent visit to Los Angeles, but as of tonight I have yet to give a Grammy acceptance speech:
